Do I really have to put these glasses on?
This is not a line from a film nor from a director on their death beds. This is Prince Charming to me as the credits rolled for “Avatar;” a two-and-a-half hour movie about over-grown hippie Smurfs in a galaxy far, far away.
But Prince has been talking about this movie since I have known him — almost four years — so I knew watching the movie would be inevitable.
All I asked for was for us not to go to the midnight viewing.
Once we got to the theater, there was an usher passing out 3D glasses. I refused mine.
“No thank you,” I said. “They look tacky and make my eyes hurt.”
“Ma’am you have to wear them or you won’t be able to truly experience the movie,” the usher said. “And you have too.”
“Amber, stop being difficult and take the glasses and let’s go,” Prince said.
The movie begins in 2154, where Jake Sully (Sam Worthington “Termination Salvation” and “Love My Way”) explains how he lost the use of his legs — in a war — and how he came to be a part of the Avatar program.
