What does CD stand for when it is being used in a category with transexual and transvestite?
Someone on my myspace has a category thing that has certain friends separated and it is listed as TS, TV and CD. I know what the other two stand for but not CD.
CD is a cross dresser which is really just another way of saying transvestite
A transgendered person is someone who is dealing with gender issues in their life. This is completely different from sexual orientation issues. A person can have gender issues or can have different sexuality or both. There really are no acceptable slang terms - the slang is usually reserved for being insulting. here are some but by no means all gender issues - and Transgender is all BUT Transsexual
CrossDressing - someone who likes to wear the clothes of the opposite sex in order to feel more comfortable

Transvestite - Someone who wears the clothes of the opposite sex in a sexual context or in a public context and tries to come accross completely as the person of the opposite gender, but just temporarily

Shemale - A person, born male who has cosmetic surgery, possibly hormones and has implants to give as much of the appearance of a female, but keeps their genitalia functional and is usually in pornographic content
Transsexual - describes a person, male or female, who was born with a condition Gender Identity Disorder (GID) which means that their gender identity, which is determined in the hypothalamus of the brain, does not match their physical anatomy. Transsexual people require medical intervention, including hormone therapy and genital surgery, to correct this mismatch and lead normal lives, but transsexualism is neither defined by, nor restricted to, that intervention

Back in 1998, I went to the tiny Westbeth Arts Center in downtown New York to see a hilarious little show called "Dressed to Kill." It featured a mostly unknown English comedian named Eddie Izzard , who maintained he "fancied girls" (not boys), but whose calling card was a love of dressing up in sparkly women's clothing.
The audience was dominated by besuited Britishers, many clearly letting off steam from their day on Wall Street. Izzard may have been a part-time transvestite, but he was both sweet and safe for international bankers. And, as I wrote at the time, there is a noble tradition of "Anglo showbiz curiosities."
Well, Izzard is no longer a curiosity. He is a major international star with a mainstream following, and a very serious acting career. (He is currently attracting U.K. attention for his role in a new TV version of "The Day of the Triffids.") On Thursday, Izzard plays solo in Chicago.

Izzard's 12-year rise can be charted through his appearances in Chicago. Following that Westbeth show, he got some valuable exposure on HBO . By 2000, he had a small U.S. tour for a new show called "Circle," with a key Chicago appearance at the Royal George Theatre. His audience was still dominated by Europeans, but stateside hipsters were clued in. The show was hilarious. And the two-week gig sold out.
